My Fish

My husband insisted I get a new betta for my five gallon that Gabe used to live in. He was upset that I would cry every time I passed it. So we did, I got a cute little fellow that I'm calling Cassiel. He's a half-moon betta and very pretty. I'll try to post a pic later.

It didn't solve my problem of crying by the tank though. I still miss my little Gabe. We had a relationship, and this new fish...well, we don't. I know it'll develop and Gabe didn't know any tricks when I first got him either, but getting a new fish doesn't replace Gabriel.

I know you guys on my friends list must think it silly that someone could get attached to a fish, but I'll bet you've never had bettas. No, he wasn't a mammal, but we were attached to each other. He would behave differently when someone that wasn't me came up to his tank and he would get excited when it was me.

I would never think it was silly for someone to get emotionally attached to any pet. Fish can show affection just the same as any other living creature, and you loved him. There's no shame in that.
