Newness

Right before we left for our trip, my washing machine broke. I mean really broke. So when we got back last week, we went shopping for a new set. They were delivered on Sunday and I've been doing laundry since then. Today I finished. I was so bummed about running out of laundry to do that I decided to wash my rugs (bathroom and kitchen) haha! This new set really does a good job so far! *knock on wood*

Also, we got new phones. Yes, we've finally joined the 21st century and got smart phones. We honestly don't really need that kind of functionality, but whatever. Our previous, semi-stupid phones, were fine though. I do miss the slide-out keyboard, but our service provider doesn't support any phones with slide-out keyboards at all! Even though they are coming out with good ones too!

We settled on getting identical phones so if there's any learning curve we can help each other out. Last time we got new phones we each picked differently and regretted that decision since neither could help the other. We got Motorola Atrix HD phones. This model seems to do everything we need and runs on Android which we prefer. (We won't have any apple products in the house unless it's juice or sauce! HAHA!)

At first I was a bit freaked out because LEARNING A NEW PHONE OMG! But after the first day I was really fine. It's basically just like my Nexus 7 only smaller and with a phone. It does go through the battery a lot faster than my old one though. Still, I think it's worth it.

I am really enjoying my Nexus 7! I highly recommend them, especially since they are so reasonably priced. I just got a period tracking app! I already use mymonthlycycles.com, but I'm giving this a spin anyway.

I got on the scales this morning and was down by another pound and a half! Yea!

Over the weekend, The Big Aussie and I had an opportunity to go to The Home Depot to get some tools or whatever. (IDK, he handles all that stuff, I can barely stay conscious in there as it's so boring, but he's happy to to go Sephora with me so I am happy to go to HD with him.) Anyway, we're holding hands as we walk into the shop, we always walk around like that, it's no big deal to us, it's just normal. But the greeter is like FREAKING OUT. " OMG YOU ARE HOLDING HANDS! WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? HOW ARE YOU STILL ABLE TO TOLERATE EACH OTHER AT YOUR AGE?!?"

Is it that unusual for an older couple to still hold hands? I never really thought anything of it. Then again, when his sister visited last year she said "you guys act like a couple of teenagers!" when all we did was exchange a chaste kiss (no tongues, lips closed) in front of her a couple of times. It doesn't seem that weird to me that even old people like ourselves would be affectionate (tastefully, not sucking face) with each other.

Happy first day of summer everyone. I am looking forward to winter, personally. Who's with me?

Ok, I ordered some new capri pants in brown because I still can't get into my regular denim blue ones yet and I'm tired of wearing jeans in this heat. I don't know why I ordered brown, I should've gotten denim blue again, I guess. Or black. None of my tops seem to go with brown. What colors look good with brown? It's a deep brown like dark chocolate (as opposed to milk chocolate.)

HELP ME!!!

Very frequently I wake up with a song in my head that will play on a loop until I hear something real. This can be good or bad. Today it's good, but this one always makes me cry for some reason. Anyway, here it is, and thank you Willow for turning me on to this song in the first place back when you were doing your report on Wuthering Heights.

Almost Lover - A Fine Frenzy

Also, I only lost .6 pounds this week. Oh well, at least it's something!

Am I nuts for wanting my 21 year old daughter, who lives half a world away, to draw me a picture to put on my refrigerator?

Swearing

I quit swearing this year. It was my New Year's resolution and when that didn't eradicate those words from my vocabulary, I gave it up for Lent. That seemed to have helped. I'm not perfect about it still, but I'm MUCH better than I was about swearing. I'm not dropping those words into casual conversations anymore at all. The only times I slip is if I'm really really mad or if I drop something on my foot or something along those lines.

Since I'm not saying and thinking those words all the time, when I see or hear them, they are like 100 times more offensive to me than they were. I think that's a good thing. If you hear/say/read those words all the time, they don't have any power anymore and I think they should have power to really MEAN that you've just HAD it. You know? Does that make sense outside my own head?

I've lost 2.8 pounds this week :) I am so happy, that makes nine pounds so far. Woot! I'll be able to get back into my normal clothes soon.

Yesterday was such a lovely day. The Big Aussie and I went to the mall and shopped around. I got another pair of shoes like last week only in the champagne color. They look so cute and the champagne color will look nice with my brown clothes. My new Vera bags finally came so I was able to use one of them as well. I posted links to them earlier.

We went by Sephora and I got an eyelash curler. This one heats up and doesn't crimp the lashes. The salesman said that normal eyelash curlers can actually weaken the lashes and cause them to break. Ö Well, my eyelashes are pretty short and pathetic already so I don't need them breaking off!

Then we went to eat at Ruby Tuesdays. They actually have a very nice "fit and trim" menu. We had a delicious chicken breast in a mushroom sauce with grilled zucchini and spaghetti squash. YUM!

Then last night on Lotro, my little Hobbit hunter, Nigella, WON a Steed of the Hunter! Here she is on the Brandywine bridge:

And here she is standing in front of a Hobbit house. On this side you can see that the pony has a pack of arrows. Photobucket

I want to welcome my new friends. This post is going to be short because I'm going out and I need to get ready shortly. Tomorrow I hope to post about today's adventures. (Well, shopping. But still!)

The good: I've lost 2 pounds this past week so my low-carbing is working. YEA! I like the low-carb diet (I'm doing Atkins, specifically) because I'm not hungry all the time.

I finished The Hunger Games and have started the second one. Catching Fire I think is the title. I did enjoy it, more than I thought I would. The second one is starting out very tensely!

The bad: My daughter's husband's deployment has been extended indefinitely. He was supposed to come home this weekend.

The ugly: Pollen. Pollen counts are at record highs and my sinuses are pretty upset about it. As are my eyes. Even my Claritin is barely keeping the symptoms at bay. I wonder if I should switch to Allegra?

Since my new laptop (which I have affectionatly named "The Beast") is so much bigger than my old laptop, it doesn't fit into my bag, so I've been perusing Amazon to find a new one. You can't find anything but boring black around here, which...blah. I'm a fuchsia girl! Anyway, what do y'all think about this one?

 Pretty fuchsia backpack

Morning

My period, which waited such a long time to arrive, has decided to make up for lost time and I'm sooo heavy! And also I woke up with a massive headache this morning. I took 2 migraine tablets, an allergy tablet and 2 sudafed. Let's see if that will work. I feel like there's a little guy in my head pounding with a sledge hammer.

On a hilarious note, I decided to make a layered jello. So last night I made the first layer, black cherry, and this morning added a second layer, strawberry. It looks like a bowl of blood! LOL. I think I will call it Jello a la Lestat. The darkness of the black cherry on the bottom is what really sets it off, then the bright red of the strawberry. It's hilarious!

I just heard the most fascinating factoid on Nature. There are more species of fish in the Amazon than there are in the entire Atlantic Ocean! WOW!

Just got this in my email (I have signed up for Ben & Jerry's Chunk mail)

At Ben & Jerry's we're so fond of dough we invented Cookie Dough ice cream! But when it comes to politics, there's no place for "dough". So why are corporations allowed to spend as much money as they want to influence our elections? Join us to take back American democracy with a Constitutional Amendment that will keep corporate money out of our elections.

Take action at getthedoughout.org! To kick off this campaign, what better way to show our support of the people's right to have their voices heard than to give away free ice cream! On February 14th from 5pm - 8pm, visit a participating Scoop Shop to get a free scoop of Americone Dream. It's the flavor's 5th anniversary too!

My little buddy Gabe died. I just found him. I know he was very old for a Betta, and I have really been expecting this any day, but it's still so awful to find him like that. He was so smart for a fish. I'm really going to miss him. I guess you guys think it's silly to get so upset over a fish, but he was such a good buddy to me for well over 2 years now. He was really smart for a fish. I can't believe he's really gone.

Happy New Year, everyone! I had a very nice (calm, quiet) holiday. My husband and I just stayed home and played Lotro while watching the Twilight Zone marathon and the Big Bang Theory marathon until right before midnight, then we switched to a countdown show, had a toast and a kiss then went back to questing. It was really nice!

So last night I couldn't sleep for some reason. I didn't get to sleep til after 2:30 a.m. and then I woke up at 4:00 and just could NOT get back to sleep, so I got up and playing on the computer until about 6:30 then I felt so tired. I went back to bed and slept until noon. Blah. I hate sleeping until noon, but if I hadn't gone back to bed I'd be a zombie today!
