"Every study has shown that the perception of having a food allergy is more often wrong than right," says Robert Wood, a pediatric allergist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. "Only about 25% of people who think they have a food allergy will actually have one."

Lost 1.4 pounds this week. Let's just call it a pound and a half ;)

Happy first day of summer everyone. I am looking forward to winter, personally. Who's with me?

Ok, I ordered some new capri pants in brown because I still can't get into my regular denim blue ones yet and I'm tired of wearing jeans in this heat. I don't know why I ordered brown, I should've gotten denim blue again, I guess. Or black. None of my tops seem to go with brown. What colors look good with brown? It's a deep brown like dark chocolate (as opposed to milk chocolate.)

HELP ME!!!

I have spent the day trying to do my stuff, and stupid Charter Communications, who is the only high speed ISP in our area, can't seem to keep us connected for more than 30 seconds at a time. This has been going on for more than a year. We've called and called and they keep sending technicians out who do NOTHING. I am SICK of them, and we are seriously thinking about moving just to get into an area where there's some other company.

I'm so mad I feel like throwing things and smashing things and swearing. I hate that company with the fire of a thousand suns. Now let's hope I can stay online long enough to actually post this.

How are you all today?

Lip Stain

I got the most amazing lip stain over the weekend. Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip & Cheek Stain. I got Cha Cha and Quickstep. LOVE THEM! It lasts until you take it off basically. As a test I put some on before bed and it was still PERFECT when I got up this morning. And after I brushed my teeth too! It's really great.

Very frequently I wake up with a song in my head that will play on a loop until I hear something real. This can be good or bad. Today it's good, but this one always makes me cry for some reason. Anyway, here it is, and thank you Willow for turning me on to this song in the first place back when you were doing your report on Wuthering Heights.

Almost Lover - A Fine Frenzy

Also, I only lost .6 pounds this week. Oh well, at least it's something!

This movie is still haunting me in a way that I haven't experienced in years and years. I've had two sleepless nights this week because of her. They knew what they were doing when they made this movie, that's for sure! I'm glad The Big Aussie is coming home tonight, because I know with him in the bed, I'll sleep.

Y'all have GOT to watch this! GOT TO!

Sofa!

Our new sofa is here. It looks so good. It is a bit smaller, but taller than our old sofa, but it looks really nice. It's so much taller that we had to go out and get new end tables, so yesterday wound up being really busy.

Last night we watched "The Woman in Black" in bed. OMG that was so scary! I actually screamed out loud a couple of times! Highly recommend it if you want to be really scared!

And I just can't hide it!

Tomorrow is sofa delivery day! I am bursting, just bursting!

Am I nuts for wanting my 21 year old daughter, who lives half a world away, to draw me a picture to put on my refrigerator?

Losing Sofa

I lost another pound and a half :)

Also, we bought a new sofa which will be delivered on Friday. I took a pic with my phone. It looks beige in the pic, but it's not, it's more of a taupe, but the color subtly changes depending on the lighting. Sometimes it looks like a very pale olive green. I has a modern look without being trendy, and I like that.

I used to laugh at George Jetson when he complained that he had "pushbutton finger" from doing his work all day, now I sympathise. (Although mine is sore from texting, still...)

Swearing

May. 17th, 2012 11:00 am
mirhanda: (Default)
I quit swearing this year. It was my New Year's resolution and when that didn't eradicate those words from my vocabulary, I gave it up for Lent. That seemed to have helped. I'm not perfect about it still, but I'm MUCH better than I was about swearing. I'm not dropping those words into casual conversations anymore at all. The only times I slip is if I'm really really mad or if I drop something on my foot or something along those lines.

Since I'm not saying and thinking those words all the time, when I see or hear them, they are like 100 times more offensive to me than they were. I think that's a good thing. If you hear/say/read those words all the time, they don't have any power anymore and I think they should have power to really MEAN that you've just HAD it. You know? Does that make sense outside my own head?
