I'm finding myself really stressed out lately, and I think it's because of politics, you know? I feel like the stakes are so great this time around and I'm panicking. So I'm going to pull a Scarlett O'Hara and think about that tomorrow. I'm going to start avoiding reading stuff that'll upset me and think about superficial things for a while.

My first item is that I'm SICK TO DEATH of "armpit bags". Why did purse designers suddenly start skimping on the shoulder strap? I see so many gorgeous bags except for the strap which will force the bag under my arm and cause the whole thing to be mashed. YUCK. I see women walking around smooshing their bags under their arms and probably getting pit stains on them too. WTF handbag makers? W.T.F?!?

Is this happening to anyone else? I can't open any comments at all. I even tried typing in the URL by hand and it's not working. Why can't they leave well enough alone? They keep making it worse and worse!

Tablet

No one on my friends list has a tablet? I was hoping someone did on my last post because I have so many questions about them!

Over the weekend, The Big Aussie and I had an opportunity to go to The Home Depot to get some tools or whatever. (IDK, he handles all that stuff, I can barely stay conscious in there as it's so boring, but he's happy to to go Sephora with me so I am happy to go to HD with him.) Anyway, we're holding hands as we walk into the shop, we always walk around like that, it's no big deal to us, it's just normal. But the greeter is like FREAKING OUT. " OMG YOU ARE HOLDING HANDS! WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? HOW ARE YOU STILL ABLE TO TOLERATE EACH OTHER AT YOUR AGE?!?"

Is it that unusual for an older couple to still hold hands? I never really thought anything of it. Then again, when his sister visited last year she said "you guys act like a couple of teenagers!" when all we did was exchange a chaste kiss (no tongues, lips closed) in front of her a couple of times. It doesn't seem that weird to me that even old people like ourselves would be affectionate (tastefully, not sucking face) with each other.

How are you all today?

Very frequently I wake up with a song in my head that will play on a loop until I hear something real. This can be good or bad. Today it's good, but this one always makes me cry for some reason. Anyway, here it is, and thank you Willow for turning me on to this song in the first place back when you were doing your report on Wuthering Heights.

Almost Lover - A Fine Frenzy

Also, I only lost .6 pounds this week. Oh well, at least it's something!

Am I nuts for wanting my 21 year old daughter, who lives half a world away, to draw me a picture to put on my refrigerator?

Swearing

I quit swearing this year. It was my New Year's resolution and when that didn't eradicate those words from my vocabulary, I gave it up for Lent. That seemed to have helped. I'm not perfect about it still, but I'm MUCH better than I was about swearing. I'm not dropping those words into casual conversations anymore at all. The only times I slip is if I'm really really mad or if I drop something on my foot or something along those lines.

Since I'm not saying and thinking those words all the time, when I see or hear them, they are like 100 times more offensive to me than they were. I think that's a good thing. If you hear/say/read those words all the time, they don't have any power anymore and I think they should have power to really MEAN that you've just HAD it. You know? Does that make sense outside my own head?

Well, my LJ notification emails are back to normal now. No icons, no reply box, just a normal email with links to the thread and whatnot. I didn't change anything on either LJ or gmail, it just decided to be normal again for some reason. WEIRD!

Huh, it was supposed to happen 45 minutes ago, but nothing changed for me. I have the TV on, but I'm tuned to the music choice station for new age music. Still, shouldn't the cable company interrupt the music stations too? Did anyone notice anything going on in their area?

I have to admit I was kind of looking forward to seeing what it would look like, but apparently I completely missed out because I like to listen to the music channels the cable company offers.

Apollo 13

I'm watching Apollo 13 right now.  Great movie!  I would've been a basket case if I'd been around to watch the actual thing as it happened!

I got to wondering though, and I guess I'll google around later to see if I can find out, whether there are any permanent repercussions for the astronauts later in life.

Why do a few people post on LJ using a  teeeeeny itty bitty font?  Why bother changing the font at all?  I don't get it.  I have no idea what they are saying in their itty bitty font because I just skip on by those posts.  But I still don't get it.

It's finally warmed up, hooray!  It's going to be around 60 later today.  I am so over that cold weather.  I had about four blankets and a thick comforter on my bed.

I was watching a documentary last night and the narrator couldn't pronounce "fungi."  He kept pronouncing it with a hard G.  I don't know why they didn't correct him before it went on TV!  I wonder if he pronounces "giant" with a hard G?  hahaha!

Why are Californians so loud?  Did no one teach them about the "indoor voice" and the "outdoor voice"?  It's really weird how loud they are!

I tend to wake up with a song in my head and it stays there all day unless I listen to some other music to get rid of it.  Today's selection is "Diary of a Madman."  At least it's a good one.  Sometimes I wake up with songs that make me say "WTF???"
