Well, for me, this whole series went downhill from book to book, with Mockingjay being the worst of the three. I think she should have tightened up the ending to the first one and just left it like that.

I finished it last night and started Mockingjay. It's kind of going in a direction that I don't like. It's really obvious now that it's a post-apocalyptic world, so I don't know. I doubt this series will be a re-read for me, but it's ok.

My husband was at a restaurant yesterday and heard another patron order a "red beer." He waited to see what it was, turns out it's beer and tomato juice! BLEAHHHHHH! Also, a kid ordered a Dr. Pepper but the restaurant didn't have that, they only had Doc. Holiday soda, which is apparently a local brand in AZ. I wonder if the "red beer" is just an AZ thing or do people all over drink that?

Read a lot of Catching Fire last night before bed and I'm exhausted today because I was dreaming the book. Ugh. You don't get good sleep when you fight all night.

Besides that, the book is taking a turn I didn't expect. I'll be glad to finish this one.

The good: I've lost 2 pounds this past week so my low-carbing is working. YEA! I like the low-carb diet (I'm doing Atkins, specifically) because I'm not hungry all the time.

I finished The Hunger Games and have started the second one. Catching Fire I think is the title. I did enjoy it, more than I thought I would. The second one is starting out very tensely!

The bad: My daughter's husband's deployment has been extended indefinitely. He was supposed to come home this weekend.

The ugly: Pollen. Pollen counts are at record highs and my sinuses are pretty upset about it. As are my eyes. Even my Claritin is barely keeping the symptoms at bay. I wonder if I should switch to Allegra?

Since my new laptop (which I have affectionatly named "The Beast") is so much bigger than my old laptop, it doesn't fit into my bag, so I've been perusing Amazon to find a new one. You can't find anything but boring black around here, which...blah. I'm a fuchsia girl! Anyway, what do y'all think about this one?

 Pretty fuchsia backpack

After hearing a lot of buzz about this series, I've decided to give it a go. It's starting off ok, although I don't generally like post-apocalyptic stories. They are always such downers. I'm not going to give up yet though, I'll try to at least get through the first one and then make up my mind.

I just heard about this book: The Warcraft Civilization: Social Science in a Virtual World. Part of the blurb states: "WoW can be seen not only as an allegory of today but also as a virtual prototype of tomorrow, of a real human future".

I have to say, if WoW is what the future is going to be like, I think I'm going to opt out. Can you imagine if daily discourse everywhere was like Trade chat? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

So hearing people on the creepy group recommend this book, I'm finally reading it. I'm about halfway through (having finally decided to just skip all the boring, pointless, meandering, crap about the tattoo guy that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the main story anyway, gah!) and I'm beginning to think this thing just isn't going to ever get scary. I even tried to freak myself out last night in bed after I turned out the light and couldn't do it. This book is such a dud!

Ok, I had been hoping that Sookie would come to her senses and realize that Bill was a good guy who did not cheat on her.  But now, she's become such a ridiculous Mary Sue, that I now hope that BILL comes to his senses and realize what a stupid bint she really is and finds himself a nice girl to settle down with.

Random WoW stuff:

I have been taking a pretty long WoW break for the last few months.  So WHY did my husband ask me today:  "Do I have a tank spec?"  WTF dude!  I love you but how should I know if your char has a tank spec.  YOU made him.  YOU play him EVERY DAY.  Man, I wonder sometimes.

I'm still reading this series, but I'm becoming increasingly frustrated by the main character, Sookie Stackhouse.  She breaks up with her boyfriend because he was raped.  She feels that being raped is the same thing as him cheating on her.  GRRRR.  If a male main character broke up with a woman because she was raped, I think the author would be vilified.  As the series goes on, Sookie is becoming more and more a Mary Sue.  This series started out so well for a light, fun read, and now I'm just starting to dislike it.

I just read the first two books of this series and started the third.  These are really fun books.  They are quick reads, which is nice.  Highly recommend!

Ok this series is really sucking now.  I'm on book 6.  If I hadn't bought the box set that contains books 1-6, I wouldn't have bought any past number 5.  If you're going to read any of these, then stop at number 3 or 4.  I'm having to just force myself to read #6 (Lover Enshrined).  Blech, this book sucks so much!

So I'm reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.  They aren't great literature by any stretch of the imagination, but they're interesting if you like vampire fiction.  I'm on book four, and this one I found just a bit annoying.  Since I'm going to talk about spoilers I'll cut this.

Things that bug me about this book )

Overall though I like it for what it is.  It's a cheesy cheesy supernatural romance and sometimes that's all I want out of a book.
